U.S.C.I.R.F. ranks India on the lowest grade of "Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) in 2030 report on religious freedom.
country which are consist of this list along with India are china, north corea, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
India was categorised as "Tier 2 country " in last year.
After 2004, India has been pulled in CPC category.
Reason :-
- The Report focuses on issues related on the citizenship amendment act, N.R.C and the condition of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Report also mention that central government is using a strong majority in national level policies that violates religious freedom in India.
- According to committee Of the USCIRF, Central and state government did not take any action against those giving hate speech allowing nationwide campaign of harassment and violence against religious minority.
The Report suggested to take a strict action against India under the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA).
What is IRFA:-
The international religious freedom Act, 1998 was passed by the 105th American congress (1997-99) and came into force as law on October 27, 1998 .
It is the description of American Govt on the violation religious freedom abroad .
Strongly supporting The American and the foreign Policy of the U.S.A.
To appoint ban ambassador for IRF under the department of state.
Act was signed by The president Bill Clinton.USCIRF :-
- It is an independent, bipartisan U.S. government advisory body, separate from the State Department, that monitors religious freedom abroad and makes policy recommendations to the president, secretary of state, and Congress.
- Established by the US Government in 1998 after the inaction of the International Religious Freedom Act, recommendations of USCIRF are non-binding to the State Department.
- Traditionally, India does not recognise the view of the USCIRF and has not allowed members to visit the country.
